Animal Services
The City of Markham provides compassionate, community-focused Animal Services that promote public safety, responsible pet ownership, and the humane treatment of animals. The City responds to concerns such as animal welfare, dog bites, lost and found pets, leash laws, and licensing, while partnering with the Ontario SPCA for domestic animal sheltering, adoption, veterinary care, and rehabilitation, and with Shades of Hope Wildlife Refuge for the rescue and treatment of injured, orphaned, or displaced wildlife.

Animal Services Officers are available every day, including weekends and holidays.
Hours of Service
8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Calls received outside of operating hours will be addressed by an officer the following day.
